Sophie Hood
owner/instructor
Sophie Hood has been teaching sewing professionally to both kids and adults for over ten years, as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University and as an instructor at Cut and Sew Studio, and now as owner/operator of her own sewing studio, Little Bird. She moved to Berkeley, CA from Pittsburgh, PA in 2018, where she taught at her studio full-time, taking on freelance costuming jobs seasonally with Berkeley Repertory Theater and other local theater companies and clients, and working as co-founder and creative lead at Four-Legged Bandits. She recently moved to Colchester, VT and opened up Little Bird again, bigger and better than ever, in Williston! She received her master's degree of fine arts in Costume Production from Carnegie Mellon University and her undergrad degree in sculpture and Japanese at Dartmouth College. She has created things for Broadway, SF Ballet, Boston Ballet, Disney, and even had a dress at the Tony’s!
She is very much looking forward to helping you through your sewing adventures and so excited to be back in Vermont! To learn more about Sophie and see her work, please visit http://sophiehood.com.
Sophie loves Halloween and tries to make a really cool costume every once in a while! She enjoys hanging out at home and gardening, being with her two corgis (Brock and Peach), and playing her fiddle. Video games are also fun! …and of course, sewing! :D
