Let's Make Simple Pants! April 19th and 26th

Let's Make Simple Pants! April 19th and 26th
Let’s make some simple pants! Using 100 Acts of Sewing Pants No. 1 pattern, join me and make a pair of super simple elastic-waist pants. This is a perfect beginner project, or for those more advanced who just want to join in a fun group and maybe learn some tips here and there or challenge yourself by using a more difficult fabric! We will go over everything from using the pattern, cutting and sewing the garment, and even go over some fit issues and how to solve them. Other skills will include learning different seam finishing options, inserting elastic, and doing a roll-hem.
Though these pants are simple, there are also a lot of ways to change them up - add pockets, change the shape of the legs, etc., so they can be quite adaptable too!
The class fee includes the pattern and waist elastic - all you need is to purchase fabric and matching thread! (You’re welcome to use the studio thread, I just might not have an exact match). Please check the sizing guide in the class photos to find your size and fabric requirements. Your size will be based on your natural waist measurement and hip measurement. If you fall between sizes, go with the larger size for now and we can do some editing once in class. If you have any questions about determining size and needed fabric, please email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com
You can purchase fabric locally at Stash Fabric in Burlington, VT, The Makery, in Burlington, VT, and at Yankee Pride, in Essex Junction. You can also find some of my favorite online sources here.
Suitable fabric includes: lightweight denim, cotton/linen blends, linen, cotton, twill - something that would feel nice as pants! If you are more experienced, you could up the challenge by choosing something a bit more difficult like rayon or a silk!
This class is for high school age and up, with younger, mature students considered with teacher permission. Please email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com with any questions or concerns.
Class will be held on April 19th, from 10am - 12pm and on April 26th from 10am - 1pm (the last class has some extra time built in for finishing up!).
Things happen and sometimes a cancellation is unavoidable. Please contact Sophie as soon as you know you need to cancel so that plans can be made to reschedule. For pre-paid workshops, cancellations are only accepted up to a week before the scheduled workshop and you will be refunded in full. Any later than that and only 50% will be refunded with the remainder going towards class costs (time and supplies), unless we are able to fill your spot with someone else. Please don’t come to class sick - we will work with you to reschedule! Thanks so much!
