Let's Make the Anita Skirt! 10am - 1pm, May 23rd, 30th, and June 6th

$195.00

It’s spring! (? maybe?) Time for a new skirt! This super fun skirt features crazy big pockets, some secret inner pockets, pleats galore, and a rad button down placket and waistband! This skirt is such a fun make!

For a confidant beginner level and up - just make sure you’re somewhat comfortable with the sewing machine and have a couple other projects completed. If you have any questions or concerns, just email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com - if you are more on the beginner side this will be an ambitious project, but I’m happy to help you through - you just might have to spend a little extra time on it! :)

We will cover:

-determining size and cutting out the pattern and fabric - this pattern involves a lot of measuring out rectangles, rather than using actual patterns so it’s a fun and different way to cut a pattern!

-creating and sewing pleats!

-patch pockets

-sewing a curved seam

-hemming a skirt

-buttons!

This skirt may look simple, but there’s a lot to it which makes it a great project!

You will need:

-The pattern! Please purchase the PDF pattern here - and get it printed here (or if you don’t mind doing a little taping, you can print and home and tape the pattern together (there actually isn’t that much to tape - it’s all pretty small pieces!)

-Fabric! You’ll need approximately 3.5 yards or more, depending on the size and length of the skirt - this class is geared towards the shorter skirt with giant pockets, but if you’d like to do the longer version, you are welcome to. The pattern instructions detail the amount of fabric you need with your size, so please check that. If you have any questions or concerns, please email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com and she can help you out! :) The fabric should be a woven (non-stretch) fabric that isn’t too heavy - cotton, linen, chambray, shirting, a lightweight denim…are all good options! When you’re looking, just try bunching it up a bit to see what it might look like as a very pleated skirt! I made my sample out of a lightweight cotton from Stash Fabric! :)

-I have thread at the studio, but if you’d like it to definitely match, please purchase some thread to go with your fabric choice.
