Learn the basics of sewing: how to set up and use a sewing machine, cut out a small project, and stitch it all together! In this class, we will make a fully reversible tote bag! Class also comes with a PDF copy of the Little Bird Tote bag pattern so that you can make more at home! Physical copies are also available in the studio for an additional cost.

This is a 3 hour workshop. Tools and machines are provided (although you are welcome to bring your own (fully functional) sewing machine if you’d like to learn on your machine!

Stash Fabrics in Burlington, Yankee Pride Quilts in Essex, or The Makery in Burlington (The Makery carries second-hand fabrics and craft supplies).

For this class you need:

1/2 yard “outer” fabric

1/2 yard “inner” fabric

Matching thread (or you can use studio provided thread which only comes in limited colors)

Fabric must be woven (non-stretch), preferably cotton or a cotton/linen blend. If you have any questions please email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com or go into any of the recommended fabric stores and they can assist!

You will notice that there are 2 options for class payment - one is just the class and one includes a $5 donation to the Sewing Scholarship Program. I am attempting to implement a sewing scholarship program that will help kids attend sewing camp this summer for a lower price and/or for free! Please consider supporting this new program! :D

Things happen and sometimes a cancellation is unavoidable. Please contact Sophie as soon as you know you need to cancel so that plans can be made to reschedule. For pre-paid workshops, cancellations are only accepted up to a week before the scheduled workshop and you will be refunded in full. Any later than that and only 50% will be refunded with the remainder going towards class costs (time and supplies), unless we are able to fill your spot with someone else. Please don’t come to class sick - we will work with you to reschedule! Thanks so much!
