Let's Make a Work Vest! June 6th, 9:30-2:30pm
In this workshop we will make this super versatile work vest from Assemblyline Patterns!
Skills include: Basic pattern layout and cutting, making and applying bias binding, and patch pockets
This is a great next-step for beginners, or a fun way to practice working with bias tape if you’re a bit more advanced!
The pattern is free and comes with three different sizes - so make one for yourself, a friend, or a kiddo!
Please get the pattern here - it’s free! You just need to sign up for their newsletter: https://theassemblylineshop.com/collections/modern-minimalist-sewing-patterns/products/free-work-vest-sewing-pattern
And print the pattern at Stash fabric - https://stashfabricvt.com/products/pdf-plotting
You don’t need to cut out the pattern before class - we will do this together, day of! :)
Though I will show you how to make your own custom bias tape for the future, you should purchase pre-made bias tape to use for the class due to time constraints.
Materials needed:
Fabric for your vest! You’ll need approximately 1.5 yards of woven (non-stretch) fabric for your vest - quilting cotton, twill, lightweight denim, and lightweight canvas are all great options! Check out Stash Fabric (where Little Bird is located), The Makery, and/or Yankee Pride for some great local fabric options! You can also get a different fabric for pocket lining if you choose - you’ll only need about a fat quarter or ¼ yard for the pockets!
Bias tape! This project takes a lot of bias tape! You’ll need to purchase 5 yards of bias tape for this project. (Or get at least 2 packets).
Please email sophie@littlebirdsewing.com with any questions or concerns! :)
This workshop is a 5hr, full day workshop, with a lunch break at 12:30. Please feel free to bring a bag lunch, or purchase lunch at one of the local cafes (Haymaker does a great lunch!).
Things happen and sometimes a cancellation is unavoidable. Please contact Sophie as soon as you know you need to cancel so that plans can be made to reschedule. For pre-paid workshops, cancellations are only accepted up to a week before the scheduled workshop and you will be refunded in full. Any later than that and only 50% will be refunded with the remainder going towards class costs (time and supplies), unless we are able to fill your spot with someone else. Please don’t come to class sick - we will work with you to reschedule! Thanks so much!
